Wichita traveled to Little Rock in the 2016 season opener to welcome the newly formed Rangers into the NPSL. Wichita saw the lion's share of possession in a hard-fought 90 minutes against the debutants. The high pressure paid off in the 22nd minute when Jeffrey Kyei displayed a great amount a skill to penetrate Little Rock's defense and lay it off for Corey Cantor to grab the first goal of the season and put Wichita up 1-0. Then in the 58th minute, Luis Pinto doubled the lead when he punished the home team off of an error. "Considering the short of time these players have had to create a chemistry, we've very pleased with the result. A road game against a new team that you know nothing about is never a great way to kick-off a season, but the squad showed that they're hungry and ready to fight to defend our championship. This is going to be an exciting season!" -Blake Shumaker It's early in the season, but 3 points puts us at the top of the table with the majority of the Conference yet to begin their seasons. Thank you to the Little Rock Rangers for hosting us and the hospitality! We want to send out a big THANK YOU to Johnny Freedom and MJ Productions for bringing our road game to Sporting Casey's Soccer Pub & Grill for our incredible fans! Thank you all for joining us and we'll see you Wednesday night at Stryker!
