FC Wichita looks to win their second straight Heartland Championship as they host the Little Rock Rangers for the crown on Saturday night.

Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Academy. FC Wichita will stream match on our youtube channel as we have all season.

The Boys in Red advanced to the title game with an absolute dismantling of Saint Louis Club Atletico on Wednesday night. FC Wichita put two goals in each half. They hit the woodwork another half doze times. FC Wichita’s 4-0 victory is the first time since their season opener they won by four or more goals and the first time they’ve scored four goals in a game this season.

Now, they get the Little Rock Rangers. While FC Wichita dominated on Wednesday night, passing with ease and really just controlling all aspects of the match, Little Rock is going to try to do things differently.

Little Rock is coached by Will Montgomery, he’s the Coach of the Year in the Heartland Conference. The Rangers, 7-3-0, is coming off a 1-0 win over the Tulsa Athletic on Wednesday night. A 90th minute goal pushed the Rangers past Tulsa.

That’s nothing new for Little Rock. They haven’t allowed a goal since June 16. The last goal allowed? Ozark FC. It’s been¬†Walid Birrou in net for the Rangers and he’s been unstoppable lately. He even has a clean sheet against FC Wichita on June 30.

Birrou has not allowed a goal in 473 minutes. Birrou was selected as the Heartland goalkeeper of the year.

FC Wichita is 2-2-1 all-time against Little Rock, including going 1-0-1 at home all-time.

Earlier this season, FC Wichita beat Little Rock 2-1 on the back of a last second goal from Nelson Landaverde in the second minute of added time.

The winner will play the winner of the Lone Star Conference in the South Regional semifinal. It’ll either be the No. 1 in the power rankings, Laredo Heat or the Dutch Lions FC, a team FC Wichita has history with. Wichita will travel to only Laredo and would host Dutch Lions FC. Little Rock would travel to either club if they were to win.
