St. Louis Club Atletico
2018 NPSL Record: 0-0-0

Coming off a second conference championship in just three years, FC Wichita jumped right back into the Heartland Conference by beating Ozark FC 5-0 at Trinity Academy Stadium on Saturday, May 5th. Nelson Landaverde was the man of the match, leading FC Wichita’s scoring with a brace against his former club.

Although St. Louis is an expansion team in their first official season in the National Premier Soccer League, FC Wichita manager Blake Shumaker is careful not to overlook them.

“I have a lot of respect for the ownership group in St. Louis,” says Shumaker. “They will certainly have a very good group of players and be well coached. We want to make sure we aren’t looking so far ahead to Wednesday’s US Open Cup, that we forget to play good futbol here on Saturday.”

“It’s exciting to see the league grow and have a new opponent in our conference,” said FC Wichita Captain Leo Sosa. “We’re definitely looking forward to this match, and working to improve our team on each match day.”
