FC Wichita’s All-Time leading goal scorer, Matt Clare, will return for the 2018 campaign.
“I’m excited to be back with the club and the city that has given me so much,” Clare said. “It’s another opportunity for more trophies, and this year I have only one thing on my mind. We want to win a national championship, that’s our mind state.”
When you talk about recent trophies, there is no doubt about it, Matt Clare has came up huge for Wichita in it’s two conference championship seasons.
During the inaugural run of 2015, Matt was awarded All-NPSL First Team honors, and tied for the league Golden Boot. Last season, Clare joined teammate James Togbah on the South Region Best XI roster. Matt helped lead the club to the heartland conference regular season title, and then came up with a huge hat trick in the conference tournament final.
“Obviously Matt has been an important piece to growing our club,” CEO Blake Shumaker said. “He sincerely wants to see soccer flourish in this city, and you can’t deny his passion. He clearly has a future for himself in Wichita long after his playing days.”
