In the wake of Tulsa Roughnecks canceling their trip to Wichita at the last minute, we have an exciting make-up match that is sure to intrigue the local soccer community. “We wanted to take this opportunity to look at home grown players,” said Head Coach John Markey. “One of our goals is to improve the game locally, so we felt like this would be a great time to go back to our core values and allow some guys a larger stage to shine.”

The visiting team includes 5 former B-52 indoor players and plenty of local talent from Wichita’s Hispanic community. FC Wichita staff hope to find a player that may have been overlooked or wasn’t available during the tryout phase this spring. “We know there are some great local players here,” said CEO Blake Shumaker. “Not just the former indoor guys, but we expect to see quality from many of the younger players who just haven’t got a good look at the next level yet.”

The visitors will dress as Atlas, the 3 time champion of Wichita’s Liga Premier. In addition, they will add a few former pros in Colin Lawter and Daniel Sack, as well as Andy Fernandez, a local player who played his way into FC Wichita training camp before opting out with other commitments.

“We plan to play about 22 players and make wholesale changes at some point in the match,” said GM Larry Inlow. “This game has quickly become a showcase match for both teams, players will be fighting for a spot with FC Wichita and we couldn’t be more excited to see the talent.”

Ticket are just $7.00 at the gate. The game kicks off at 7:00 PM.

All Pre-Order Tulsa Roughnecks tickets will be honored as admission and you will also receive a free ticket to the TIGRES U-23 (MX) vs FC Wichita match on June 27.
