A dreary day in Wichita looked to set the tone for Saturday’s match at Stryker Soccer Complex. The game started slow while the teams tried to adjust to the Kansas winds. Coach Markey made just 2 defensive changes to the side that topped Liverpool Academy 5-0 last week -Togbah returned from injury, and GK Weir gets the nod for his first start. Both sides had multiple opportunities and Wichita possessed well, but failed to find that final pass to set up any goal-scoring chances. After applying heavy pressure on Wichita’s goal, Dallas finally opened the scoring with a scramble in the box just minutes before the half -the first goal conceded by Wichita in the Conference this year.

The second half started with much of the same -possession and pressure from Wichita but unable to break through. Markey made 5 subs (including an NPSL debut for Frank Barry and a 2016 debut for returning striker Luca Anelli) throughout the half to try to spark something different. The incessant time wasting from Dallas was looking to be effective as the half slowly ticked away. Wichita was looking to face their first loss this season until the Veteran Chris Lemons steps up and hammers home a side volley from a Ten Eyck throw-in after it was flicked on by Frank Barry to equalize for the home side. Just a minute later, Wichita capitalized on a frustrated Dallas team as Osterloh drew a foul just outside of the 18 in the dying moments of the game. Jeffrey Kyei bends a right-footed swinger around the wall into the right corner of the net to secure all three points and send Wichita to the top of the Conference table.
