When FC Wichita organizers were writing the blueprints for the foundation of the club, an ambitious goal was established to participate in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Qualifying for the prestigious tournament would increase exposure for our young squad by competing against the country’s top teams, while placing FC Wichita on the national radar. The inaugural season’s successes has earned FCW an at-large berth in the 2016 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

The Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, commonly known as the US Open Cup, is a knock-out cup competition in American Soccer. It is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the US and the world’s third-longest-running open soccer tournament. The 103rd edition, to be held in 2016, is expected to be contested by clubs from the three professional leagues sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (MLS, NASL, and USL), and amateur clubs in the earlier rounds of the tournament after qualifying through their leagues. The tournament winner qualifies for the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League. -Wikipedia
