FC Wichita have clinched 1st place to become Champions of the South Central Conference in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). A 2-horse race between Wichita and Corinthians FC of San Antonio has ended with Wichita on top after defeating Fort Worth Vaqueros tonight by a score of 4-0. The win gave Wichita 3 points, putting their current total at 33. Corinthians FC completed their regular season last Saturday with a 10-3-1 record, landing them 31 total points for the season.
Tonight’s win gives FC Wichita’s an 11-3-0 record (5-2 away, 6-1 home) in their inaugural season. The impressive opening-season is a result of an outstanding Coaching Staff, a formidable defense boasting the fewest goals conceded, and a ruthless offense that has scored 35 goals.
FC Wichita will represent the South Central Conference in the South Region semi-final vs Myrtle Beach FC in South Carolina on Saturday, July 18th.
The NPSL is divided into 4 regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, and West). The South Region is broken up into 4 conferences (South Atlantic, Southeast, Sunshine, and South Central). FC Wichita compete in the South Central Conference with 7 other teams. By winning the Conference, Wichita advance to the regional semi-final where they will play a single elimination play-off versus the other 3 conference winners in the South Region. The winner of the South Region will then advance to the national finals to face the 3 other Regional champions to determine the league and national champ.
